Who assassinated the hero who withstood the Red Army and slapped Islamic
fanaticism in the face?
October 9, 2001 nsnews editorial
Where were all the pundits who have
suddenly discovered Afghanistan, when the UN recognized leader, Ahmad Shah Massoud, said? The war in Afghanistan
is principally caused by external interferences, in particular that of Pakistan and its regional strategic aims. The war in
Afghanistan is not a civil war but the result of external interference.
Where were all the self-righteous
anti-terrorists when Massoud said? We agree; unfortunately, Afghanistan has become this [a state sponsor of
terrorism] after a long period of war against the USSR. The principal reason for the state of things rests, in my opinion, on
Pakistan's responsibility and the groups dependent on Pakistan [like] Hekmatyar and the Taliban. Where were
all the CNN and NBC "terrorist experts" when Massoud said? I say to you very clearly that we do not want to see
Afghanistan becoming a base for terrorists. In an Afghanistan that we control, there is no place for terrorists and Osama bin
Laden. Before we go on to the next question, let's explode a little secret. There is no such thing as an
expert on terrorism. The vast majority of CNN and NBC pundits are evidently special interest advocates.
Where were all the
human rights activists when Massoud said? The behavior of Taliban and their extremist conduct do not correspond in
any manner to a tolerant Islam. We are and will always be opposed to the tendencies of [an] extremist [interpretation of]
Islam. We have not ceased to insist that an Islam of tolerance is advantageous to all Muslims, for the Afghans and the whole
world -- and we will always defend it.
Where were all the people who defend freedom when Massoud said?
It is our deep conviction and we have always insisted on the fact that democratic elections are the only solution
for Afghanistan. Every individual must have a voice. On the day we are in Kabul, we will organize elections under the aegis
of the international organizations.
Where were all the feminists when Massoud said? In the
democracy that we will found in Afghanistan, women will have voting rights, they will be eligible [for office], and they will
be able to work and study.
Where was the UN when Massoud said? There is no doubt that the
international community has long forgotten Afghanistan -- and this is unfortunate! We wish to see the international community
occupying itself with the priority of peace in Afghanistan. And in Afghanistan, peace will only be possible when the
international community exerts pressure to stop [outside] interference, especially by Pakistan. I am certain that with
international pressure, Pakistan will give up its interference, and then peace will be possible in Afghanistan.
What did all the behind-the-scenes nation-builders think, when Massoud said? I am ready to serve the people of
Afghanistan, especially for [the cause of] peace. I am ready for any mission at the service of my people.
President George Bush Jr. is certainly not responsible for the assassination of Ahmad Shah Massoud, he doesn't believe in
nation-building. As far as Mr. Bush is concerned, the purpose of the military is to win wars -period. It is quite obvious
that the people who are responsible for Massoud's timely assassination are using the President of the United States. It is
also not reasonable to believe that an ignorant barbarian like Osama Bin Laden is responsible for the murder of Massoud
without outside interference and/or intelligence. Indeed, to suggest any less is to dishonor the wisdom, the intelligence and
the courage of Ahmad Shah Massoud Truth is always the first casualty, and that is what the assassination of Ahmad Shah
Massoud is all about. And now, when or if the war ceases to exist, who is going to build the Afghanistan that Ahmad Shah
Massoud was fighting for?
