Mackinac Island Tour 2002

This year, I was determined to do the shore walk: Follow Lake Shore Road around the ENTIRE eight-mile circumference of the island! Granted, you miss out on a lot of cool landmarks by doing this, but it was something I had never done before. Plus I wanted to do it backwards. Not WALKING backwards, silly, but by going from WEST to EAST, rather than the other way around to end up on the west shore at sunset. Even the mile markers are set up from east to west, so you know that's the way most tourists take. But I wanted to be DIFFERENT! :) So that was what Ma and I set out to do. And I found out that the East Bluff is a LOT cooler than the West Bluff, in the still of evening!

There are 73 digital pictures available from this tour. Twenty-four are presented here. To view all available photos, please see this album. (Be aware that the page may take a while to load.)

Unlike the previous tour, the weather was gorgeously sunny this year and this pretty house was one of the first sights we passed.

What beautiful water! I went a little overboard with the Lake Huron pictures, considering that was always in sight. ^_^ Here is also the Mackinac Bridge, in the distance. Wonderful colors!

The West Bluff and its cottages. Compare this to shots from previous tours and see the difference a little weather can make!

WOW! :D

Some parts of the shoreline can grow pretty desolate looking out here.
