The blockhouse of Fort Mackinac. There was ugly fencing up all around the outside of the fort because of the renovations.
I never keep note of the names of the particular houses I'm taking pictures of, so I'm afraid I can't tell you what this is called! It's along the way as you head eastward out of town, is all I know; we took a slightly different route I believe, heading through town rather than going up Fort Road.
I DID take note of the name of this building...this is the Inn-on-Mackinac. I'm not completely stupid, at least. :)
The island is covered with all sorts of different types of forest land, and sometimes the woods can get pretty dark and mysterious. (This is well lit only because it looks like I took it without the flash, making for a longer exposure time and thus more light.) You'll be seeing many more examples of this in the 2004 tour.
Arch Rock, with a better view of Lake Huron below and even part of Lake Shore Road.
