Mackinac Island Tour 1991
(Junior High Class Trip)

1991 was the year of the junior high class trip to Mackinac Island! Though I have always loved the island, I must confess I was not so appreciative of all its beauty back then as I am now, and so I spent that entire trip...in town with my friends!! >_< If I had this to do all over again, perhaps I should have dragged them along with me to Sugar Loaf or something and FORCED them to like the island too, eh...?

I was a lousy photographer and there were not many things to photograph, considering we spent the bulk of our time feeding the seagulls in Marquette Park ^_^ , but here is a small sampling of photos from this earliest recorded trip anyway.

There are 26 scanned pictures available from this tour. Twelve are presented here. To view all available photos, please see this album. (Be aware that the page may take a while to load.)

My attempt to photograph a street was interrupted by this overzealous bicyclist! Fooey!

A stone memorial set up in Marquette Park. Unfortunately, by now I cannot remember what it says, though I know it has been there a very long time. You can see part of Fort Mackinac in the background.

A beautiful sunny day in Marquette Park! This is where we spent most of our time, feeding the ubiquitous gulls. I mean, those things were EVERYWHERE. o_o

Check out the pretty lilacs. Every year Mackinac has a lilac festival, and though I have never attended, I hear it's something worth seeing. Mmmm...lilacs. ^_^

The park's statue of Father Marquette, with Fort Mackinac in the background and...a seagull flying overhead!!

Cripes...give a seagull a crumb, and it'll take a cracker. What does he think he is, a parrot?
