Oh, OutofMud is not only our genius consider the dark and depression stuff, but also our new nerd number one with her perfect spin-off 'Amanda the Vampire Slayer'. We didn't care about Amanda's character during the seventh season, but we didn't viciously wished her death like some other potentials.
Once again OutofMud's work is outstanding because she likes to vid with brain, much of it, the Intro is so damn smart planned and you can actually see a series work with that kind of characters. The titles are perfectly created and even the fonts are similar. Brilliant and unique work we really enjoyed.

The best study of the impacts that death has in the life of the ones left behind on BtVS ever, enough said! Okay, actually don't, OutofMud once more proves us her genius in working with psychological patters to get her point across. To let us rethink the deaths of Joyce, Tara, Buffy and Jenny and the consequences it had on the people closest to them.
Common agreement is that there are five stages of grief, the model developed by Elizabeth Kübler-Ross MD was actually about patients dealing with the news of their terminate illness and not the grieving ones left behind, but it pretty much summed up the reaction by an unexpected death and is therefore undisputed by most professionals in the healthcare system. The idea is that a grieving person goes through five emotional stages and these are unavoidable, you must endure them to get a sense of closure and healing, to move on with your own life. Not always in that linear constellation, not every stage has the same length or impact, but they all have to take place in the mourning process somewhere. Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance!
OutofMud shows you, dearest viewer, what the theory is about and if you don't understand my babblings above, you gonna understand the model of '5 stages of grief' after watching the video. The haunting music, the scene collection, the excellent timing, absolutely everything in this video is a fantastic illustration of psychological processes and so damn sad, that you have goosebumps and a lump in the throat after watching it. If not, consider to take professional help from the psychologist of your trust… You need it!

It has been a while since we gave out our last AU award. Mostly because we are really hard to convince to believe a story told by a video. OutofMud had three very good arguments: first of all this damn /($%/($ song which makes you sing it for hours and hours even you watched the video only once (I think my colleagues at work think I'm a sucker for Dolly Parton right now *sigh*), second the scenes really tell a story because they match the lyrics perfectly and third Harmony…we are all in love with this character and think there can't be enough videos with that cutie and her blondie bear. Okay, maybe not every judge is in love with this character and pairing, but we're in love with 'Jolene'."
"Why?
There aren't enough Spike Videos out there, at least not enough like OutofMud's "Novocaine". From the first shot in this video you know, that you're in a strange place and this place works on many psychological levels with a cautiously use of black and white effect. Manipulating and enthralling this video unravels the story of Spike and his require and dependence on something, anything that will prove his worth and ease his pain."

The editing was great, and the song seemed to match Spike very well. When I first saw the video description, I was like, this can't work for Spike. I was wrong. OutOfMud does very good work, check them out."

In fact, we got this time two very ship laden videos as PoVs. First this Faith-Vid, I would even say, that this is one of the best Faith PoVs about her relationship with Buffy available out there and you all know, that these two quite the favourite topic to vid. The dynamic between her and Buffy in "Hide" is incredible, the fast cuts and pace take all the energetic force and vibrant power of these two slayers in and in the end you know, why there is only one slayer chosen at the one time. Armageddon brides.
A song made for them and OutofMud produced something purely Faith, dark, consuming and intoxicating, unbelievable hard to resist and so full of energy and self-destruction! The thing about Faith is, she's the result of lies told by her watchers, betrayed faith by Buffy, bad choices by herself and a tragic accident, not unusual beyond slayers how Giles pointed out. Faiths dark path is always asphalted with dozens of "What ifs", the biggest "What if it actually had been a vampire in that alley and not a lackey of the major?" or "What if Faith's Watcher wouldn't have been killed?" Her fall from grace was slow always preventable by Buffy, when she hadn't been so caught up with Angel and had paid attention to the younger slayer and just once looked through the faint mask of "Five by five."
So I'm not quite with OutOfMud and her description of her video, cause Buffy living the perfect live in total self-absorption and blissful ignorance is one of the things I always thought deserve a fall. Deserve the leaves that Faith provokes to fall. Cause Buffy is a pretty poser, back than and even in the final. Untrue to her own nature and Faith is a result of her fail to stay honest for her desire to kill, to succeed in sharing a duty and fighting along her fellow slayer. Armageddon brides destined to destroy each other."

Hide: Peek-a-boo. found you. J/k. Out of Mud, this video was spectacular. The editing, the concept, the Faithness. It just was a great Character vid. I 'm spell bound by this video. I couldn’t decide (Best Video, Best Editor, and Best Character) but it all boiled down to this. This was just one of the best Faith videos I’ve seen here.
[Vinnie]
Defiantly agree with Liz on this one. Probably one of the better Faith vids we've seen in our two rounds of judging :-) The editing was great and clips were perfect. Good job! "

What can I say? I just loved your editing in Hide and your other videos, but especially Hide. Keep up the great work Out of Mud.
[Vinnie]
The editing was amazing. That’s all that needs to be said. Great job!"

Because this video is very funny. The shot of the lowly Doublemeat Palace worker looking into the camera is hilarious. Ha, good times."

Amy isn't our favourite supporting character, only got our applause back in BtVS 1x03 The witch, but this humorous and witty vid from OutofMud is just to hard to resist to not be rewarded. Lyrics couldn't better fit and the cuts are fast and in faultless timing and it's remarkable, how many scenes with the rat Amy are really out there, it's easy to forget that she kinda was a loosely part of the slayerettes in the first seasons and got this important role in Willow's magic addiction in the sixth season."

Sometimes you don't need a fancy shiny totally new effect to make your point. Sometimes an old effect like the frames backwards is all it takes to make your statement. A strong one. One that translate a foreign language for you and you absolutely understand, what the song is about. Not in words, but in your heart. So OutOfMud's "Crying" is heartbreaking and a big part of sadness is the consequent use of one effect. It takes you with goose bumps back to the beginning, literally. The judges were speechless in its simplicity and beauty."
"Why?
The story arc of the seventh season with all it players, paws, castles and queens packed in one calm intense video, that's what "Wise up" from OutOfMud is about. You've got the bringers, potentials, Ubervamps, scoobies, Caleb and finally Buffy against the first evil. The doubts, the surrenders, the pain, the will to carry on, the realization that maybe you just have to give up you're being unique and everything you are. So all melt down into one fantastic sad video, that let you speechless and miserable. Tear Jerker in every frame, so cry and whine some more. You’re allowed to."
