I look back at yesterday when my people were free.

We walked the land,we worked the land,we loved the land.
We knew what to do with the changing of the Seasons.
When to gather,
when to hunt,when to rest,
when to laugh and when to play.
I look today and see my people who are no longer free.
You have taken our land and put us on Reservations,
stripped of our
pride in who we are as a people.
We still walk the land, but with no direction.
We have lost our way
because our ways were forbidden.
You have taken away our freedom to live in this great land that
our Creator
has blessed us with.
You have taken away
our right to Worship and honor him with our dance
and our
ceremonies.
We still work the land, but for who?
We knew how to take care of our families.
Our Creator provided buffalo for
the hunt, furs for our bodies,
fish in the streams, fruit on the trees,
and the herbs
of the field for our healing.
He and he alone provided all that we needed to survive.
We have lost our way, we have lost our hope,
yesterday when we were free to laugh,
free to cry and free to speak our own language.
We were free to be proud of who we are.
Today we still love the land, this is our land,
our blood was shed here,
ours tears have fallen here,
our bones are burried here.
You can take away our freedom but you can't take our pride.
You can make us slaves, but you can't break our Spirit.
You can kill us,but you will never silence us.
We are proud,we are strong, and we will rise again.
We are the
"Red Nation".
We will unite and we will be one voice and we will be heard.
