Most people think of rodeo as a sport for cowboys,
not Indians. But there are plenty of native American rodeos all
over Indian country.
Soon after the first horses were brought to this continent
by the Spanish, the plains tribes became the best horsemen the
world has ever known. It is only to be expected that there would
be a sport in which Native Americans would excel.
"Native Bullrider" is Johny Tiger's tribute
to the daring and skill of the Native American athletes who compete
in the dangerous sport of bull riding. The rider deserves applause
whether he gets thrown or stays the eight seconds until the buzzer
signals a successful ride.
